Building Inspections

Responsibilities

The Building Inspection Department is responsible for enforcing Building and Public Safety Codes to protect the best interests of the public. As approved by Neosho City Council and adopted as In Force as of October 1, 2019, the City of Neosho Building Inspection Department utilizes the International Building Code 2018 Edition and the 2017 National Electrical Code. 

This Building Inspections Department:

  • Issues building permits and all applicable sub-permits
  • Performs inspections for the construction of new homes, new commercial buildings, home and commercial remodels / additions, demolitions, moving, tents, electrical, plumbing, signage
  • Reviews all commercial plans prior to building permit approval

Administrative staff members are available to assist in issuing permits in a business-friendly atmosphere.

Building Inspector

The building inspector works with the city’s Planning and Zoning Committee to review all commercial, industrial, and multi-family development plans to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal codes.

Commercial Construction

  • Completed Building Permit Application (PDF)
  • Stormwater plan
  • Seal engineered drawings (one original and two copies and a digital copy)
  • Site plan
  • Check for $250 to cover the costs of the plan review
