Trash Collection Billing Transition

Effective April 1, 2026, Republic Services will take over trash collection billing for the City of Neosho. Their first quarterly bill will be mailed on March 15 and will cover April, May, and June trash service. During this transition, there will be an approximately three-month overlap period in which residents will continue receiving a City of Neosho water bill that includes trash charges, even as Republic Services begins sending their quarterly bills.

This temporary overlap occurs because the City bills about one month after a meter reading, which includes trash fees, while Republic Services bills quarterly, typically on the 15th of the month prior to the service period. As accounts close with the City and begin with Republic Services, billing cycles will briefly overlap. For example, the City will bill January trash collection in March, February trash collection in April, and March trash collection in May along with water and wastewater, while Republic Services’ first bill begins the new schedule for April-June trash service.

What you need to know:
1. You are not being double charged for the same service period; each bill will clearly show which dates are covered.
2. Each of the City’s bills will cover the final 3 months of monthly billing and finalize your City of Neosho trash account; the Republic Services bill will begin your new quarterly billing cycle.
3. All future trash billing will come solely from Republic Services quarterly.

This change only affects billing of trash service. The City of Neosho will continue contracting with trash service providers for residential customers.

Thank you for your patience during this transition. For questions, please contact the City Water Department at 417-451-8060.
