Our Mission

The mission of the City of Neosho Animal Control Department is to promote the health, safety, and welfare of domestic animals in Neosho by maintaining a safe environment with the enforcement of the City's animal codes. The animal control officer investigates reports of animal abuse, addresses issues regarding animals at large, and provides education to residents on the proper care and handling of animals.

Missing Pet

Has your pet gone missing? Please contact the Animal Control Officer, at 417-451-8333, to help find your pet. All animals that are picked up each day are generally taken to the Joplin Humane Society, 417-623-3642. The City of Neosho does not hold any animal over night.

Reporting Violations

Call Central Dispatch at 417-451-8333 and provide complete information, including:

  • The nature of your complaint
  • The address where the animal lives
  • A description of the animal

A precise location is needed to best respond and investigate a complaint. Anonymous calls are allowed, but it is helpful to have the names and addresses of complaining parties so that we may contact them for more information if needed.

You can also report violations by utilizing the Citizen Request Center. Signing up is free and easy. All requests entered are responded to in a timely manner. If a request is still open after three days, an email is automatically sent to the department director. If a request is still open after five days, an email is automatically sent to the City Manager.
