Haas Building
Located at 130 East Spring Street, and built in 1906, the Haas Building is a four-story brick, two-part commercial building. The southeast corner of the storefront is chamfered and has an original red granite column. Above the storefront level is a concrete cornice with modillion blocks. Over the windows are concrete label lintels. The upper façade is composed of two bays with each bay divided by brick pilasters with Doric capitals above the fourth-floor level. Below the roofline is a concrete cornice with large modillion blocks and brackets. At the roofline is a stepped parapet with concrete coping.
The building was constructed by the Haas family in 1906. It was built to house the offices of the Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad, but the firm went bankrupt before ever occupying the building. The building was Neosho Savings Bank from 1909 to 1916 and city offices in 1926. There are jail cells in the basement of the building. Neosho Hospital leased the top two floors in 1923. The building housed the Newton Hotel in the 1960s.
